Now this is just weird to me... Nintendo gets all uppity when people point out how dumb they were not to have the Gamecube also play DVDs. They claim that they are only interested in making a videogame machine, and NOT a multi-entertainment machine (in the interviews I've read in the past, Nin execs act like what MS & Sony are doing with their consoles should offend gamers). So, now Majesco comes up with a way to play video on the GBA and Nintendo jumps aboard?!?
Why can't we let company's change their minds? Nintendo works on deeper ideas/principles than any of the simple explanations the media gives us. It's kind of odd that we make such strong judgements of these organizations when we only see the saloons' facade and not the inner brawling. Although, it does seem silly to not include DVD playback or other 'cool' features if at all possible. But I guess you have to license that technology and that's part of the reason GC is $99, not $149 -- but also because it's not as good...
I was kind of eager to have this sort of portable, passive entertainment for my 4 year old during car trips and extended layovers. But I don't really like the shows they're putting out. Spongebob is marginally acceptable for my daughter-demographic, but the others are for old childs. What about Dora? "Isa turn the wheel! Turn the wheel, Isa."
