Vol. 2

Kara and I saw Kill Bill Vol. 2 over the weekend and it was a blast. I thoroughly enjoyed the first volume and was looking forward to see the conclusion. I was, however, a bit apprehensive that Vol. 2 would be just more of the same stuff of Vol. 1. So I was pleasantly surprised that the second half is VERY different from the first half. Gone are the sword fights and fountains of blood, and instead we get a ton more dialog and emotion. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still plenty of ass kicking and there’s a gross-out scene that tops the ear removal in Reservoir Dogs (I won’t give it away, but it involves something disgusting squishing between toes, and no, it’s not what you think).

Anyway, I highly recommend this movie, but do yourself a favor… If you haven’t seen the first one, rent it on DVD first. Ebert & Roeper claim that you don’t need to see Vol. 1 before you see Vol. 2. I don’t know that I’d disagree with them, but there should be no reason to see them out of order! I mean get your lazy butt down to Blockbuster and rent the DVD before you go to the movie theater…

Do they have Vol I on VHS? Maybe I'll rent it since you told me to and I am lazy.

Jake is right on about this one. I too was scared vol 2 was going to be more of the same, but it was not. I love both the movies now...so go see it, and if you haven't seen the 1st one, rent it, then go see the second one...excellent excellent film....oh and Jake, did everyone "groan" during the part your speaking of? The whole crowd (including me) did when I saw it....it was awesome :)

AND the soundtrack for both films is killer too....terentino has a way w/the music.

Yeah, there was serious groaning going on there... What freaked me out is how similar our takes on the movie were... i mean even word for word in parts! I hadn't checked your site until after I had posted my review, and I know yours was up before you read mine! Here's what I'm talking about:

My review: "Gone are the sword fights and fountains of blood, and instead we get a ton more dialog and emotion."

Micah's review: "[T]he first movie has more action and excessive blood, Kill Bill Vol. 2 has way more character development and closure."

My review: "Don’t get me wrong, there’s still plenty of ass kicking and there’s a gross-out scene that tops the ear removal in Reservoir Dogs (I won’t give it away, but it involves something disgusting squishing between toes, and no, it’s not what you think)."

Your review: "Don't get me wrong though, the 2nd one still has some crazy action scenes....i.e. xxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxxxx xxxxx (if you have seen the movie, you know what I mean)."

(I've xxx'ed out Micah's description of the same scene to avoid giving too much away)
