Remember this list? I tried my hardest to resist the inevitable, but today I caved when I discovered that Amazon is running a buy two, get one free deal. So I bought Pikmin 2, Donkey Konga, and Paper Mario for a total of $115.81 including tax and shipping (or $38.60 per game). And it's far from over... I was hoping Ratchet & Clank 3 would be slammed with a Kerry-esque "more of the same" critique, but it's getting incredible reviews (Game Informer, the best video game magazine ever, gave it a 10/10 rating and said "Game of the Month? Without a doubt. Game of the Year? I wouldn't be surprised" and "[I] walked away with the feeling that I had just played one of the greatest games of my time. Don't miss it.")
Crap... If I can just hold out until Christmas, then maybe I can get some of them as gifts instead of blowing my own money.
Aren't you going to be too busy with all these toys to even think about buying more? Or am I underestimating your gaming voracity? I mean, three games would take most people *at least* three months if not more.
Here’s how I see it playing out: Donkey Konga will be the first one out of the box, since it’s the most unique. I’ll play it a bunch and probably beat it in a few days, at which point it’ll probably be set aside as a party game. Then I’ll probably invest my time in Paper Mario, which will probably take up to a month to complete. Pikmin 2 will probably get the short end of the stick, because Halo 2 is right around the corner which will probably trump all other games for a while... It’s a serious problem that every game maker saves their best games for the Christmas holiday, because there are simply too many good games and not enough time to play them all!
