Today I worked on making a lab for INFO 341, a class that I am TAing for. It was a very interesting experience, my first on the teacher end of an assignment. We worked through the lab to see how it flowed and to see if anything had been overlooked. It was pretty fun, and somewhat creative. Also today I watched TRON. This movie was ok, but very dated. It’s about computers in the future, but with computers of the past (command line interfaces & room sized computers). My favorite thing was the main computer (who talked) when finished speaking would say “END OF LINE”, so awesome, I want to start using this gay line! Also, I noticed while the spaceship was flying over some computer landscape, Mickey Mouse’s head in silhouette was visible. Main reason I watched this movie was for Jeff Bridges, he did show some dude-like facial expressions, but he looked VERY young. TRON an OK movie, not highly recommend, kinda boring. Two stars. Tomorrow I TA, kinda scary, but should be easy (hopefully).
I love TRON....but in a nastalgic way of course. I own the special edition DVD. Has a lot of cool behind the scenes stuff. One of which discusses why they were inelligible for "special effects" awards because at that time, computer graphics was not considered "real" special effects!
It took 3 different companies about 1 year to make the CG that you saw, and they weren't even allowed to win an award simply because no one had ever done it on that scale before!
Also, it was Disneys first "big" movie that wasn't a cartoon. (thus the mickey ears)
END OF LINE
HAHA, awesome use of END OF LINE! So, I wrote this three years ago, and I HAVE tried to use it occasionally, but I only get blank stares... But honestly, I’m not surprised, I mean c’mon!
Yeah, I've gotten the same reactions.....then tried to explain it's origin....then received condescending smiles.
