Movie Lookup v3.1

Well, I couldn’t stop tinkering with my program… Now, there is a built in preview pane which is populated as soon as a match is found. This pretty much makes the ‘Preview’ button obsolete, but I’ve left it in for now. I also did some refactoring of the code; I was never really happy with how I handled the different media types, so now there is a separate class that handles all of that junk. I still have plans to rework the underlying ‘data structure’ (in quotes because all it is now is a set of string arrays) so that the related strings are more tightly bundled.

I was thinking that I might actually make a more configurable version of this thing if there’s any interest out there… Right now the source has my ftp account/user/pass hardcoded in, so it’s not much use to others!

I downloaded your little program, siphoned (with a small gray tube) the FTP username and password and saboutaged your site to the nth degree! I changed your background color to a nice dark gray, in honor of the gray siphon. I named the siphon "Muffled Bug Whapper" in honor of the various small insects it has so effectively ended. The insects are named after various pockets of multi-colored dust which they enjoy playing with in their spare time. The dust doesn't have a name, but you are free to discuss and decide on a list of names for me to consider. Call me "DustNamer". Your utility looks very cool. I wish I had the ability to quickly make little utilities like that, but my programming skill is limited to the web arena. I'm sure PHP could do the same thing, but I'm too lazy to look into it. I have a huge list in my mind of ideas for utilities and administration features that perhaps I'll never create because I just don't feel like it. Congratulations, I like your idea. Perhaps I'll name something in your honor and form a new list of hierarchical degenerations, with you at the top.

I'd love your app, Jake. I prefer to link directly to the images on their host sites rather than upload them to my own server, so as long as I'm able to copy URLs I'm good.

Alright, the source for the new version is here.

There are a few const strings at the top of the Form1 class that you need to set if you want to use the FTP part of it.

If you want to customize the sites that are linked to, change them in the MediaType constructor.

Enjoy.

Maybe MovieGen should have a different name since it does books, games and music, too. And it finds links and thumbnails, and does not generate anything really.

How about "Media Link-O-Matic 3.1"?
Or "FindAndUploadThumbnailAndLinkForBooksMoviesGamesAndMusic 3.1"?
